The Penny Drops

Once upon August, a warm vibrant day,
I sat with a friend and was carried away.

“Brother,” he asked me, “describe being Love.”
And fell into stillness, the silence of God.

With backdrop of cotton in infinite blue,
His face shone pure beauty in heavenly hue.

The breeze was caressing our hair and our ears
While birdsong was filling my eyes with sweet tears.

I spoke:    “I kiss and embrace all that be
And my Heart is exploding, a cry wild and free.

Upholding all things in a total embrace,
This loving moment is beyond time and space…”

I giggled at this… and then laughed again,
No end to this mystical rose-petal rain.

More hopeless words - when I heard suddenly
From far away, the drop of a penny.

Such a soft cling and the Truth is so clear:
I am awareness and it’s always here…

This field of consciousness ever here now
And the relief is just endless somehow.

Reality cannot be better - nor worse.
Oh! I relax - this is a new birth.

In this perfection, NAUGHT MATTERS AT ALL:
Big is not better – but neither is small.

Life is now seen as a wonderful dance,
Carefree yet fearsome: wake all from the trance.

What happens now?     I only can guess…
But choiceless my whole being is shouting a “YES!”
